SiPasta, Beijing – China

The project combines a series of Italian culinary experiences offered to a Chinese audience: fresh-made pasta restaurant, wine taverna and food market. These three main aspects are shown in the main counter, along which customers can see the process of the pasta making in a glazed exposed lab, pick up their dishes from food displays or choose wines from shelves. The easy-going atmosphere is characterized by a fresh contemporary design, which combines the warm and joyful brightness of South Italian restaurants with the cozy and intimate atmosphere of northern Italian “osteria” and wine pubs. Color scheme is clearly dividing the functional areas, with a signature red for the food displays and kitchen parts and a palette of soft and delicate grays for customers and dining rooms. All furniture, lighting fixtures, logo and wall decorations with traditional herbs are specifically designed for the space. Custom-made plates and ceramic pieces by “Il Rustico”, artisanal ceramic workshop from Caltagirone in Sicily, are decorating shelves and walls, and were inspiration for decorative and graphic elements around the space.
