Restore, Tocancipá – Colombia

Restore is a convenience store located in a service station, right on the road connecting Bogotá to the north of the region. The store offers a restaurant with a full menu, a market and toilets, designed for quick stops en route.
A partially glazed volume with high concrete ceilings, columns and concrete floors were the basis of the design. From there, the space was designed to have the dining area at one end of the store with its own outdoor terrace, the market area was conceived at the opposite end of the store and the counter area was placed right in the middle of the store.
The operational area (kitchen and offices) was conceived at the back of the store. To divide this area, concrete brick walls were raised to an intermediate level, and from there a division of WPC profiles was used that almost touches the ceiling. A division that lets in light and air and serves as the main design element of the entire store.
The minimalist and timeless look was achieved with the use of subtle finishes, such as the rectangular white ceramic tiles covering some of the walls and the recessed planters located right in the middle of the dining area and the market and containing different varieties of plants and trees. For the furniture, the use of two-tone wood, black powder-coated iron and faux leather helped to balance the store’s industrial aesthetic.
