Nini Andrade Silva is one of the most prestigious interior designers in the world.
Born in Funchal, Madeira Island, Nini graduated in Design from the Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing (IADE) in Lisbon. She then pursued further academic and professional experience abroad, studying and working in New York, London, Paris, South Africa, and Denmark.
Nini’s work has international recognition, placing the name of Portugal alongside the biggest and best designers worldwide while being the creative mind behind multiple hotels. With impressive work across the globe, Nini saw her work being distinguished several times while also becoming a constant presence in prestigious publications worldwide – The New York Times, Financial Times, El Pais, Wallpaper, Condé Nast Traveller, Rolls Royce Excellence Guide, Sleeper Magazine, Harrods Magazine, Architectural Digest Magazine, Andrew Martin’s World Leading Guides, Wallpaper, Condé Nast Travel Guide.
Whether academically or professionally, Nini constantly leaves her unique mark on our society. This is why she’s often asked to speak at various conferences, lectures, and debates. The invitations come from different sources, such as Universities, cultural institutions, TED Talks, Fairs, Seminars, etc.
In parallel to her trajectory with internationally acknowledged work in interior design and architecture, Nini embraced two great passions: painting and helping people in need. Nini’s painting is included in one of the world’s largest collections of Contemporary Art –the Berardo Collection – and is present in museums worldwide, namely in Portugal, Ireland and New York.
As a result of this recognition, in June 2011, Nini was distinguished by the Portuguese Government with the Honorary Title of “Grau de Oficial da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique” for her outstanding service to Portugal, both within and abroad.
Nini is also an international consultant for IADE-U, integrating the panel of guest lecturers at this University of Design, which received the IADE CAREER AWARD in 2010. In 2012, the Guimarães European Capital of Culture appointed Nini as its cultural ambassador.
