Sama Jim Canzian graduated in Architecture from the University of Venice in Italy in 1998 when he moved to British Columbia. He worked for nine years as an architect in renowned Vancouver design firms.

Sama always had a passion for the still camera. At age 14 he began to learn the magic of light – both on the field and in the darkroom.

Having studied Architecture and photography in Venice, the idyllic city influenced his way of perceiving the natural and manmade environments. He learned to observe the miraculous power of light admiring the ever-changing texture of historical walls lit up by grazing sunlight, or contemplating the impermanence in the silhouettes of the Venetian palazzi reflected on the waterways.

He is still today captured as he observes how people move and interact in urban spaces, bringing architecture to life.
