Eela redefines the dining experience in Scarborough by blending regional Indian cultural elements with a modern, transitional design language. At 145 square meters, the space was envisioned as more than just a restaurant—it was designed as a place where atmosphere and cuisine come together to create a sense of calm, comfort, and discovery.
The interior is organized into distinct seating zones, ensuring every type of diner finds their place—whether for family gatherings, intimate date nights, or cozy booth seating. A soft ceiling curve flows gently through the space, paired with warm lighting to evoke the openness of a courtyard. This fluid design move sets the tone for an environment that feels both spacious and serene.
Cultural storytelling is woven subtly into the details. At the entrance, a striking metal lattice panel establishes a bold first impression, while a mandala-inspired wall panel anchors the interior with symbolic depth and balance. These handcrafted accents are complemented by natural cane elements, adding organic warmth and texture to the otherwise refined setting.
Artwork and material explorations were central to the design process, with careful selection ensuring harmony between traditional references and modern aesthetics. The use of AR wall art—introduced here for the first time—brings an interactive cultural layer, inviting guests to engage with the space in new ways.
Eela’s originality lies in its transitional character: modern lines softened with earthy textures, cultural motifs expressed with restraint, and an overall atmosphere that feels refined yet welcoming. The result is a dining space where interiors are as memorable as the cuisine itself—an environment that leaves guests lingering, both at the table and in their minds.
