Gene’s, Dublin – USA

Project description

This restaurant exudes a cinematic elegance—equal parts nostalgic European café and intimate modern bistro. The design balances refinement and ease: classic black-and-white checkered marble floors ground the space with heritage charm, while beadboard paneling and pleated café curtains soften the light and lines. Dark bentwood chairs and pedestal tables nod to French brasserie tradition, while the sculptural sconces and gallery-style art curation give it an editorial edge. Wine bottles line the ledges like curated objects, echoing the layered intentionality found in every corner. There’s a lived-in patina to the space, cultivated but unpretentious—where every portrait and frame tells a quiet story.
The ambiance suggests long, late lunches, dinners and celebratory meals. It’s a room that feels both familiar and elevated—warm with memory but fresh in its point of view.
The menu mirrors the space—restrained, elegant, and thoughtfully composed. Seasonal vegetables, fresh seafood, and handmade pastas dominate, with Mediterranean and Californian influences at play. You’ll find dishes like scallop crudo with citrus kosho, saffron spaghetti, and heritage pork with mustard jus. Each plate speaks to clarity and finesse—nothing overworked, just deeply considered. This is a place for natural wine, refined flavor, and timeless atmosphere. It feels like a secret you want to share slowly.
