‘Grezzo’ means ‘rough, raw, rustic.’ With this in mind, the project located in Guadalajara was designed to reflect the concept of the products that would be offered there. The materials used, such as the clay floor and the kitchen walls along with the bar, covered in handmade mosaic tiles, are a clear example of this.
The lamps were created with copper plates, and a copper pot was adapted as a sink. The warm, monochromatic space, which is only 47 m2, contrasts with the surrounding buildings and invites you to enjoy a refreshing dessert. The open kitchen occupies half of the space, where you can see how the gelatos and baked goods are made from scratch.
To serve passers-by from the pavement, the metal fixtures open with textured glass windows that invite you to the coffee and bread bar. In the other half of the premises, which previously served as a garage, a bench was built to seat 10 people, with cushions in the same tones as the chairs, floor, walls and ironwork.
The exposed fixtures form a logical path on the ceiling that complements rather than contrasts with the design. Outside Grezzo, three planters were created that also serve as benches so that people can enjoy their gelato, coffee or dessert in the afternoons in Guadalajara, sheltered by the shade of the trees.
