Orilla, meaning shore in Spanish, draws inspiration from the serene beauty and soulful energy of Mediterranean coastal culture.
Set to be located in The One, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Dubai, the new culinary venture will bring ‘MediterrAsian’ cuisine to life – blending the rich flavours of the Mediterranean with Asian influences.
The overall ambiance of Orilla was imagined as a modern reflection of the coast: effortlessly elegant and warmly inviting, creating the perfect backdrop for shared moments and everyday indulgence.
Prospect Design International were briefed on the menu, which was to be a culinary journey through Italian, Japanese, Greek, Provençal, and Vietnamese flavors. This adventure through cultures became the foundation for our design, inspiring the colour palettes and key features within.
Blending different cultural influences from across the world and translating them into a cohesive, beautiful design was a creative challenge. The colour palette brings in inspiration from each location. Yet it doesn’t feel overly themed or out of place, it’s a subtle expression that is felt. A relaxing, beautiful space, where global influence meets intelligent, local design.
Acoustics were a challenge due to the hotel rooms located underneath. We had to fully treat the columns and shaft, as well as install a glass wall behind the existing glass window/façade in the lounge area, preventing sound and vibration from leaking into and disturbing the rooms below.
Key design elements include a central bar, island seating in the lounge area, the decorative lighting suspensions, and the double-height ceiling in the bar area – which features a mural wallpaper that resembles a balcony overlooking a Tuscan natural landscape.
Lighting is soft and ambient, evoking a sense of warmth and intimacy. Patterns and textures also play a key part, whereby mosaics, intricate carvings, and natural materials are considered throughout.
