Swingers Navy Yard, Washington – USA

Project description

Swingers’ second venue in Washington DC welcomes guests to a world inspired by the 1920s Great British seaside, complete with a British pub, undulating crazy golf courses, cocktail bars, and street food. The 23,000-square foot entertainment venue also boasts multiple lounges, a merchandise shop, and a 3D photo booth.A pub dubbed “The Swingers Arms” sits on the top level. The structure opens up to a faux patio area lined with flower boxes and golf-side seating. With the design, we aimed for a modern quirky take on an English pub. A key feature is the exterior pub facade that is actually located inside.Nods to the nautical theme are sprinkled throughout, reflecting the local Washington Boat scheme. The back of the “Pub Bar” morphs into the ceiling and is tiled with 580 message-in-a-bottle-style vessels, each embossed with the Swingers’ “S.” Nautical rope hangs from the booths at the upstairs “Boathouse Bar”, which is encircled with porthole-style mirrors. The three crazy golf courses “The Carousel”, “The Spinner” and “The Meteorite” are named after British funfair rides and decked out with mini-moving versions of their namesakes. Swingers aimed to strike the perfect balance between challenging playability and fun to keep guests coming back for more.
