Yoozoo is a contemporary bubble tea shop located in a colonial building in Mexico City. It contrasts historic charm with a minimalist intervention that leads customers into a softly lit polycarbonate tunnel, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior.
This modest shop stands out with its clean and orderly design, while a subtle touch of vibrant tones on the upper window sign adds a sense of playfulness, inviting passersby inside. The main challenge of the project was that, given the small footprint, the concept had to be compelling enough to attract visitors.
The solution was to design an immersive experience for its customers.
The tunnel is the heart of the shop: here customers interact with the space by choosing their bubble tea flavors, creating their own combinations and taking moments in this setting, which is perfect for selfies. Yoozoo turns the act of ordering a drink into a participation ritual.
Polycarbonate was chosen for the tunnel due to its accessibility, ease of use, and as a response to the project’s scale and tight construction schedule. This choice became a visual and conceptual resource that, together with Yoozoo’s identity, forms part of the brand’s visual discourse and architectural language.
The proposal revolves around two key elements: color and form. On one hand, the wide variety of flavors and personalized combinations encourages experimentation and celebrates diversity. On the other, the use of polycarbonate and rounded geometries (present in both the tunnel entrance and the circular service window) define a distinctive spatial identity and reinforce the project’s contemporary, almost futuristic character.
More than a bubble tea shop, Yoozoo offers a journey that combines flavor, color, and form. By transforming a small footprint into a stage for interaction, it positions itself as a refreshing destination that transcends its walls and enriches Mexico City’s dynamic urban landscape.
